How it Works
To send money, all you need is your friend’s email address or mobile number.
Your friend will get an email or text saying you’ve sent them money.
Your friend receives the payment directly into their account or logs in to the Popmoney® site to claim it.

Will my bank account information be shared with the recipient?
No, your bank account information will not be shared with the recipient. They’ll only see your first name, last name and the message you wrote with the payment. If you sent the payment to your contact’s email address, they’ll also see your email address.
What are the different ways I can send money to someone?
Email address or Phone Number: your contact will receive an email or text message with instructions on how to direct the payment into his or her bank account.
Bank account information (routing and account number): the money will be directly deposited into your contact’s bank account.
What is the difference between sending money via Email/Phone Number versus using bank account information?
When sending via email or phone number:
The recipient must provide their bank account information to receive the payment.
The recipient must choose where they wish for the funds to be deposited unless they have enabled automatic deposit in Popmoney®.
When sending directly to a bank account:
The funds will be directly deposited into the bank account without the recipient needing to take additional steps.
There is no additional action required by the recipient; however, they must share their bank account information with you.
How secure is my financial and personal information?
From the moment information is sent to Popmoney® to the time it is stored and accessed again, it is encrypted using industry leading software, hardware and algorithms. Security is also utilized at specific points and actions in the product. For example, to help prevent an unauthorized person from fraudulently depositing someone else’s payment, a one-time passcode is sent to the user. The user must provide that passcode back to Popmoney® to verify his “ownership” of that mobile number or email address before he can deposit the payment.
How fast can I send and receive money with Popmoney®?
With Popmoney®, a recipient can receive money in as little as one business day. However, in some cases it may take longer. For example, if you send an email or mobile payment and the recipient is not yet registered for Popmoney®, he/she must sign up for the service so that we have their account information to deposit their payment. Also, if you exceed your next-day payment limits, then we will deliver payments within three business days. Limits can and will vary and can be checked by clicking the Help icon on the Send Money screen.
What are the fees associated with the service?
Each transaction is only 50 cents and it’s just as easy as sending a text message or email!*
